Every Colour Option On The Revamped 2022 Mazda CX-5 In Canada
January 11 2022, Centennial Mazda
Across a broad model range that now includes six different trim levels, the revamped 2022 Mazda CX-5 will be available with a colour palette spanning eight different paint options for 2022.
Colours and wheels aren't the only changes, however.
- All-wheel drive is now standard equipment on every CX-5 in Canada.
- The optional 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G turbo now cranks out 256 horsepower.
- Front and rear ends are refined "to minimize character lines in favour of reflective surfaces," Mazda says.
- Redesigned seats provide greater stability in corners.
- The 2022 CX-5's frame is more rigid, which allows Mazda to provide superior damping for better ride quality and better handling.
- The 6-speed automatic is now more responsive.
There's also a new Sport Design trim level that slots in above the GT. While the 2022 CX-5 Sport Design comes standard with the 187-horsepower 2.5-liter engine, this is where the turbocharged powerplant becomes available. (The turbo is standard on the CX-5 Signature.) The CX-5 Sport Design's exterior includes gloss black finishes on the grille, door mirrors, lower bumper, wheel arches, and rocker moldings. There's also a subtle red accent inside the grille; the same shade as the first-generation MX-5 Miata's Classic Red. The Sport Design's black leather interior is red-stithced, as well.
Across the 2022 CX-5 spectrum, standard equipment levels are higher than ever before. Features in the GX include radar cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, rain-sensing wipers, heated front seats, and a gigantic 10.25-inch centre display with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
In the 2022 Mazda CX-5 GS, extras include a power liftgate, proximity access, auto-leveling headlights, a power driver's seat, and black leatherette with Grand Lux Suede inserts. The CX-5 GS is once again available with an optional Comfort package, now with a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and 19-inch alloys.
In the 2022 Mazda CX-5 Kuro Edition, there's available Garnet Red leather, black alloys, black side mirrors, and a black front wing. A 10-way driver's seat with memory settings plus a power passenger seat, and a 7-inch LCD gauge cluster are also added. Perhaps the biggest upgrade is one you can't see, but you can control: the i-Activ all-wheel-drive system includes Mi-Drive with unique modes for Normal, Off-Road, and Sport.
The 2022 Mazda CX-5 GT takes the CX-5 GS Comfort Package and layers on a lengthy list of extras: front/rear signature lighting with adaptive front lighting, automatic power-folding mirrors, and 10-speaker Bose audio. There's a heads-up Active Driving Display, navigation, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, wireless charging, and HomeLink.
Above the GT and Sport Design, the 2022 Mazda CX-5 Signature is Mazda's top-spec CX-5. The 2.5-liter turbo is the only powertrain. The exterior cladding is body coloured. There are bright finish 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the leather is Cocoa Nappa, the wood trim is Abachi, and there's ample LED ambient lighting. The CX-5 Signature includes every aspect of Mazda i-Activsense safety features, including a 360-degree monitor, front and rear parking sensors, smart city brake support rear, traffic jam assist, and driver attention alert.
As for colours, two trim levels are offered with all eight paint options: GS and GT. Eternal Blue Mica is the rarest choice; available only on the GS and GT. Snowflake White Pearl, Jet Black Mica, and Soul Red Crystal Metallic are the only three colours offered in every version of the CX-5. The Kuro, previously only sold in Polymetal Grey Metallic and Jet Black Mica, can now also be had in Soul Red Metallic and Snowflake White Pearl. Sonic Silver Metallic, Deep Crystal Blue Micra, and Machine Grey Metallic round out the paint choices.
