2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Fuel Economy Ratings
July 10 2024, Centennial Mazda
For the first time since its launch in early 2022, the Mazda CX-50 will be available with a hybrid powertrain for the 2025 model year. The 2025 CX-50 Hybrid won't just be significantly more fuel efficient than the conventional CX-50; it's more powerful, too.
Combining a 2.5-liter gas-powered engine with a hybrid EV battery, three electric motors, the 2025 CX-50 Hybrid generates 219 horsepower (a 17% increase) and sends that power to all four wheels. This is actually a powertrain designed around the Toyota Hybrid System. Toyota actually owns a small stake in Mazda, and the CX-50 is assembled in a joint-owned facility called MTM: Mazda Toyota Manufacturing.
MAZDA | COMBINED CITY/HWY FUEL ECONOMY |
COST TO DRIVE 10,000 KMs At $1.75/L |
2025 CX-50 2.5 | 8.9 L/100km | $1,557.50 |
2025 CX-50 2.5 TURBO | 9.4 L/100km | $1,645.00 |
2025 CX-50 HYBRID | 6.2 L/100km | $1,085.00 |
The CX-50 Hybrid is expected to garner a fuel economy rating from Natural Resources Canada's Office of Energy Efficiency of 6.2 L/100km in combined city/highway driving. That's 40% better than the conventional CX-50 2.5. There are distinct drive modes in the hybrid model, as well: Power and Trail. The CX-50 Hybrid is rated to tow 1,500 pounds.
By all other metrics, the CX-50 Hybrid is, well, a CX-50, which means class-leading handling, a premium cabin, and a flexible interior. The CX-50 Hybrid will be available as a GS-L, Kuro, and GT to go along with the regular CX-50's GS-L and GT trims and the turbocharged models that come as a GT or Meridian Edition.
